1st Grade News

Our PSO purchased the book. "How Full is Your Bucket?" for each classroom this year and first graders are having a great time incorporating this theme into the school day.  We are filling buckets with nice notes on Friendship Friday's and practicing kindness in all learning environments while creating a wonderful, kind community of learners.

 Our Kindness Community

Students made kindness cards for their friends and we are proudly displaying these beautiful cards that are filled with heart-warming sentiments on student lockers.

Kindness counts in first grade!  :)

One of our 1st grade families treated this group to Popsicles at the end of the week!

The Dot  This link has wonderful resources for classroom activities!

After reading The Dot aloud, our class discussions focused on applying effort and having patience to work through tasks that may appear too difficult at first.

Students love this bulletin board display and I love that I have the pleasure of listening to their conversations about the artwork.  :)

This week, we're reading another gem - A Color of His Own by Leo Lionni.  This book provides an opportunity to help children learn that although we're different, we're also similar in many ways - a beautiful message of acceptance and understanding.

1st Grade News 8/15/16

Summer break was a little shorter for us this year as our district made the decision to transition to an earlier start date.  Although it's hard to believe the first day of school is tomorrow, incoming first graders appear ready to embrace another school year!

Tomorrow, we'll take 1st day pictures and share a little about ourselves in our first writing.  Lots of wonderful firsts in first grade!  :)
